Mission Statement | The mission of the Santa Cruz County Immigration Project (SCCIP) is to promote the well-being of the immigrant community in Santa Cruz County and the Pajaro Valley. We accomplish this by helping immigrants acquire legal status, by re-uniting immigrant families, and by making U. S. citizenship more accessible to eligible immigrants. We provide competent and professional legal services, advocacy, and community education and information. Faced with new and alien surroundings, a sometimes hostile federal immigration bureaucracy, and unscrupulous or incompetent immigration consultants or notarios, SCCIP tries to be a beacon of hope and a welcome alternative, so immigrant families can be secure, prosperous, and civically-engaged members of our community. |
Volunteer Duties | Volunteers work directly with clients who are seeking citizenship or other immigration assistance. We fill out required forms, guide clients through the process and advocate for the immigrant community. Spanish speaking skills are a great help, but not required. Attention to detail is very important. Other duties include filling out petitions, application for citizenship, and legal status. |
